There are many ways to relieve stress, but you might not even know you are stressed. Are you experiencing one or more of these symptoms:

  • Low energy
  • Headaches
  • Stomach problems
  • Muscle tension
  • Chest pain or rapid heartbeat
  • Trouble getting to sleeping
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Shaking
  • Excessive sweating
  • Racing thoughts
  • Clenching our jaw or grinding our teeth.
  • Weight gain or loss.
  • Irritable

Perhaps you find yourself saying  you can’t cope, everything is too much, you are overwhelmed, burnt out and can’t see a way out of your current situation?

If so,  I think we can safely say YOU ARE stressed.

Stress affects us at so many different levels but perhaps worst is the toll it can take on your physical and mental health if left unchecked; here speaketh one who knows!

Long term high levels of stress and anxiety were a large part, if not in fact, the only reason I ended up with the symptoms called ME/CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). These symptoms were physical and emotional.  Long term stress erodes tissues and functions in the body causing physical illness. The decisions or beliefs formed in the intense emotional states creates ways of being in the world which contribute to the emotional or mental ill health.

Recovery was not easy, there were many days when I wanted to give up and settle for sick, but slowly, gradually by applying what I learned I got better. I now believe that eliminating much of the stress from my life was the number one thing, THE most important thing I did to help myself.

The internet is full of de-stressing ideas, but if you would like something  a little more hands on, literally, why not give EFT a go. EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to Tapping as it is also known,  is easy to learn and simple to use, you can learn how here.

I used EFT religiously during my recovery. I tapped on anything and everything that caused me stress. With the help of a practitioner I also tapped on deeper, more complex issues from my past. I cannot thank EFT for the difference it has made in my life.
